M&T Premium Bagged Hay for Rabbits — Timothy or Meadow
£14.99 – £16.99Price range: £14.99 through £16.99
Description
Note: M&T Haylage is a brand name. The products offered here are not haylage products – they are premium quality dried and dust extracted hays and are completely safe and suitable for your rabbits to eat.
A premium, dust-extracted hay for rabbits, available in two grass varieties: Timothy or Meadow. Choose your variety from the options above. Both are cut from quality British pasture, dust extracted before bagging, and supplied in the same convenient small bale, so you can pick whichever suits your rabbits and switch between them whenever you like.
Hay is the single most important part of a rabbit’s diet and should make up the bulk of what they eat each day. It keeps the gut moving, wears down teeth that grow continuously throughout a rabbit’s life, and gives them something to forage through and chew on for hours. A rabbit short on hay is a rabbit at risk of dental disease and gut stasis, so this is the one thing we never want to see run low in a hutch or pen.
Both varieties are dust extracted, which matters more for rabbits than people sometimes realise. Rabbits have sensitive respiratory systems, and dusty hay can leave them sneezing or contribute to longer-term problems. A cleaner hay is a kinder one to live alongside, both for the rabbit and for anyone sharing the room with the litter tray.
Choosing Your Variety
Timothy hay is high in fibre and low in energy, with a slightly coarser, stalkier texture that rabbits enjoy working through. Its naturally lower sugar and calorie content makes it the everyday choice for most adult rabbits, and especially for those who need to watch their weight. If you are only going to feed one hay, Timothy is the safe default.
Meadow hay comes from permanent pasture and carries a natural mix of grass species, which gives it more variety in both texture and flavour. It is softer than Timothy, which often appeals to fussier eaters and to older rabbits who appreciate something easier to chew. Many owners offer it alongside Timothy to add interest and encourage steady, all-day grazing.
Neither is a wrong choice. A good approach is to keep Timothy as the staple and use Meadow to add variety, or simply to find which your own rabbits prefer.
What This Hay Offers
High in fibre, which is exactly what a rabbit’s digestive system is built to run on, with the long fibre that keeps everything moving as it should. Low to moderate in energy, so it suits the great majority of pet rabbits at a healthy weight without adding excess calories. Dust extracted for cleaner, kinder feeding. Grown and processed in Britain and supplied in 100% recyclable packaging under Code 4.

Feeding Guidance
Hay should always be available, never rationed. A rabbit will happily eat its own body size in hay over the course of a day, and that is exactly as it should be. Offer it fresh daily in a rack, a pile, or stuffed into a tray they can dig through, and top it up whenever it starts to look picked-over. Pair it with a measured portion of leafy greens and a small amount of quality pellets, and you have the foundation of a sound rabbit diet.
