For The Child Who Already Means It

Plenty of children say they want to look after animals when they grow up. Some of them keep saying it. If yours is the one who noticed that the rabbit at the garden centre had nowhere to hide, and would not let it go, this shirt says the thing they have been trying to explain to you.

Soft Enough To Be A Favourite

Children wear the same shirt until it falls apart, so the fabric matters more than the label on it. This one is organic ringspun combed cotton at 155gsm. Combing takes the short fibres out before spinning, which is what makes the finished cloth smooth against skin instead of scratchy, and it holds up to being washed twice a week.

The 1×1 rib collar pulls over a head and springs back rather than going slack by half term. The back neck is taped in the same fabric, so there is no separate label rubbing at the nape, and the printed tear-out label comes away with a snip if your child is the sort who notices it. Single jersey at this weight sits under a school jumper without bulk and works on its own in summer.

What A Child Can Do Now

Growing up is a long way off. In the meantime, children help rabbits by learning to sit on the floor and wait for a rabbit to come to them, by stuffing hay into cardboard tubes for their own pets or a rescue’s, and by telling their friends the things they know. That last one has more reach than it sounds, because the households a rescue never talks to are often reachable through a nine year old.

Beloved Rabbits is a Scottish rabbit rescue charity, registered as a SCIO (SC049128) and staffed by volunteers. Rabbits come to us from owners whose circumstances have changed, from gardens and parks where somebody left them, and from other services who have nowhere else to send them. We treat them, neuter them, vaccinate them and find them homes with people who understand what they are taking on.

Beloved Rabbits Welfare Services CIC sells this shirt on behalf of the charity. All proceeds go to Beloved Rabbits for its charitable purposes, which is to say hay, greens, vet bills and a safe place to wait.

Fit And Care

Medium fit with a set-in sleeve. Wash at 30 degrees, inside out, and dry flat to protect the print. The narrow double topstitch on the sleeve and bottom hems is there to survive the washing this shirt is going to get.
